Currency: Czech crown (ceska koruna) is divided into 100 hellers (haler), you can see signs of Kc (czech crown) and h (heller). There are coins of denomination :10, 20 and 50 h; 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Kc. Banknotes have values of 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 Kc. |
Exchange: You can exchange you money in many banks and exchange offices. The last usually take commission fee up to 10 %. In hotels the size of commission fee decreases up to 5 %. The size of commission fee at a bank is equal 2 %. But,please, do not change you money on the "black market", simply "one hand to another". You will not have any guarantee of the fact, that money are valid. Banks and exchange offices are opened at week-days from 9.00 till 11.00 and from 14.00 till 18.00.Credit Cards - Visa, Master Card, American Express are accepted almost everywhere. |
| Shopping: Supermarkets are opened from 7.00 a.m.. Department stores work from 9.00 a.m. till 18.00 p.m. on week-days, and on Saturday till 13.00 p.m.. Some large supermarkets are working non-stop. It is better to do purchases in shops and to keep your receipt before passage of the customs kontrol. |
Communication in Czech: In Czech exist 3 mobile systems operate: T-Mobile, О2, Vodafon. For convenience we recommend to buy sim-card of Vodafon (already with telephone number and credit 500 CZK). All incoming calls free of charge |
Taxi: Prices for travelling by taxi in different cities are various. Data about the tariff for kilometer should be specified on the doors and in interior of the car. Each driver is obliged to expose the account for travel under your requirement. |

City public transportation : City public transportation in Prague fast and effective. One kind of tickets (jizdenky) approaches for the subway, buses and trams. In a tram and a bus the ticket should be punched in a vehicle, in the underground - at an input on station - since this moment reckons time. There are tickets for a trip during 75 minutes (with a posibility of change) and for 20minutes trip (without a posibility of change), also there are tickets for 1 day, 2, 7, 15 days. To get tickets it is possible in hotels, in news-stands (Trafika), at stations of the underground in automatic devices. Automatic devices accept coins except of 50 galleys - 1 crone, 2 crones, 5 crones, 10 crones, 20 crones, 50 crones.Prices of tickets:
For 20 min. - 14 CZK.
For 75 min. - 20 CZK.
In trains of the underground and ground transport are often carried out the control. The penalty for not paid travel is high enough 950 crones. The underground is opened from 5 a.m. up to the midnight. After the midnight with an interval of 30 minutes night trams (numbers 50-59) and buses (numbers from 500) go. Their routes are crossed at a corner of streets Lazarska and Spalena. In summer on days off in Old City you can travel with the restored ancient tram number 91. To travel between the airport and city use buses number 100, 179, 119, 225. The subway has three lines: “red” - line C (which runs between stations Háje and Ládví), “yellow” - line B (connects stations Černý Most and Zličín) and the “green” - line A (which transports passengers from Dejvická to Skalka). Certainly, it is possible to change from one route to another at transfer stations. They are: Florenc (lines C and B), Můstek (lines A and B) and Muzeum (lines A and C).

What it is possible to bring to the Czech Republic without payment of the customs duties? |
Tobacco products: 200 pieces of cigarettes or 50 pieces of cigars,or 250 gram of tobacco
alcohol drinks – 1l. of firm alcohol or 2 l. of vine.
Medicine - type and quantity of which should correspond to personal consumption .
Other subjects of noncommercial character which‘s total cost isn’t more than 6000 CZK per person (for children till 15 years old this sum shouldn’t be more than 3000 CZK).

From the Czech Republic it is possible to take out without the permission on export any quantity of the goods of noncommercial character, except of: |

the subjects, being a national cultural value.
Antiquarian products and other subjects of art without the certificate, that taken products are not a national cultural value.

"Tax Free" |
Tourists from the countries which are not belonging to the European community, doing purchases in Czech shops, entering into system " Tax Free ", can count, at departure of the country, on return of the sum of the VAT at a rate of 11-16 %. The export discount is paid in case, that the total cost of the purchases made in one shop in the same day, makes no less than 1000 CZK. It also extends on clothes, footwear, textiles, products from a leather and glasses, jewels, wine and alcoholic drinks. The shops offering the goods with the export discount, are noted by a firm sticker " Tax Free Shopping ". The sum comes back on border in special items of payment " Tax Free Refund ". |
